The Great Nebula in Orion, an immense, nearby starbirth region, is probably the most famous of all astronomical nebulae. In addition to housing a bright open cluster of stars known as the Trapezium, the Orion Nebula contains many stellar nurseries. These nurseries contain hydrogen gas, hot young stars, proplyds, and stellar jets spewing material at high speeds. Most of the filamentary structures visible in this image are actually shock waves - fronts where fast moving material encounters slow moving gas. Shocks are particularly apparent near the bright stars in the lower left of the picture. The Orion Nebula is about 1500 light years distant, located in the same spiral arm of our Galaxy as the Sun.

cystem said, "an incredible celestial journey and a great representation of stellar nurseries! one of Hal\'s more melodic mixes i believe, excellent!"

megatone said, "supernatural beauty. this harmony that persists within the most extreme chaos, as spirit dwelling in matter, this higher harmony that sums the opposites and transcends duality... this musical track is a reflection and a model of the history of the universe. it reminds the ever-present intuition of what is infinite and eternal."

Mental Anguish said, "Space is the place. Excellent classic slice of pure electronic music. I feel like its the mid 1980\'s & I am at Space Station Studios when it was located in Brooklyn preparing for some recording armed with the arsenals of analogs & fx units & the open reel to reel is rolling.."

buzzsaw said, "A stunning look into the mind of Pliny the Elder as he composed his Natural History and his moment of epiphany when he decided in good and proper Latin praticality that there might not be race of men made of nothing but fur and hair who lived on nothing but smells and various aromas. Again, such an ability in Germania, as with many others is in Hal\'s province alone."

DJ Get Yo Fat On said, "This is way out there in the cosmos!!!!! Great tune man, I\'m grooving!"
