Ready to declare herself Empress, Sophia is suddenly confronted by one Peter already esteeming himself Great enough to attract the support of the streltsy guards. An attempt to invite Peter to the Kremlin ends with an another invitation for Sophia to a convent abetted by burly bearded ones wielding halberds. Bells, snow and incense ensue.
