Having thrown down the makers of dome and the remakers of Rome, Savonarola refines his techniques by gathering up into Florentine bonfires all the scripts of humanistic misdemenors penned by such types as Homer, Virgil and a dear poetess by the name of Sappho that has at length fallen into his hands. Given his zeal and her predilictions, it could not have been a pleasant experience for either one.
