The Incomplete Orchestra 2495 plays of 12 songs --> tapegerm home
Been wanting to make music since 3rd Bass came out with Steppin' To The AM in 1988. And here I am, 21 years later.

My first attempt at "looping" was in a lead up to a 1990 talent show performance. I didn't want to use an existing record. So I took sections I liked from vinyl or another cassette tape, and played them on a stereo that could play and record from either. It took a lot, a LOT of patience but I somehow over the period of days, managed to loop beats together. I managed to make a three and a half track out of other CDs and cassettes including a bridge. My song sucked and so did the routine, but that's baby steps for you. You can't learn without planting your face in the pavement first. That's why most people don't learn, they're afraid of the pain.

EMBRACE IT!

As I graduated high school I picked up a Numark DJ mixer (which I still have) and learned digital looping then and practiced my raps for a few more years. Took keyboard and MIDI in college... then popped out of music to pursue writing and art with my compatriots at http://www.gravitywell.com/ During that time I got back into music and you can actually listen to some of my old stuff, by finding the animations on that website.

It wasn't until this year that I picked up an Ion Icue, got my mic back out and got back to making music.

I've learned a lot about looping and composing music, so my beats sound great IMHO and that of many friends of mine. My raps? So so at the moment IMHO. It'll take some practice to get my vocals up, but none the less, I still break out the mic at karaoke bars so I'm not COMPLETELY out of practice. I just have to master using my voice on this microphone and computer to convince your ears I can do it. I haven't relearned scratching yet, but it's in the future. I just have to practice, just like my mic work.

I hope you enjoy my music, please comment I want to hear constructive criticism, that means if you've got something bad to say, go ahead.

My mic work sucks? Well you can skip that for now, I'm not claiming to be great except in lyric.

UPDATE - 9-12-2009 Many little changes that made this song rock so much harder. The final version will go on sale, but this one is very close to what that will be I think.

This is a CCmixter acapella mix. The vocals are in the creative commons so I had at them and enjoyed using them. They are by Cdala featuring the voice talents of Nego Elias.

Cdala / CC BY 2.5

I enjoyed working on this one, though I expected to get more "punch" out of the "Smoov Groove" stuff. Credits: Vocals are CC 3.0., "wind" from Axel Mundi Guest Artist. It uses East West's "Smoov Grooves," Soundtrack Loops' "Mushroom Grooves," Sonart's "Chill Out," and Trumpet Loops from Mihai Sorohan

Azimuth
271 plays
03:28
Genre: Chill Out
Album: The Seeds Of Azimuth's Reign

A random 12 song, targeted for the hour and and a half movie my studio will be releasing in January. I would have had this up two hours ago, but sometimes my DAW acts up and will corrupt every sample I "duplicate" of certain samples, which causes me major headaches as it usually takes me 50 re-exports to figure out that's the case. This time it was the "Synth Sequence" file. Weird. I had to make "fresh" copies of every instance of it to fix the problem.

For those of you participating in my mixtape project, this is one the songs that is available I just haven't added it to the website yet. This is the high bit rate version of it as well, so download and enjoy. Credits: Features loops from Tapegerm.com's random 12 song generator: Arthur Loves Plastic, BF Baker, DJ Get Yo Fat On, Hal McGee, Heuristics Inc., Mental anguish, Mike McGary, Omnitechnomatrix and Shaud

I wanted to make a song with the new loop content, and I came upon the idea of making a homeless man song. So this is the result. It's meant to sound like a crazy, old man babbling and singing to the music.

And I haven't blog posted it yet, but I do have a remix of a 3rd Bass song on my website, check it out 8^)

I'm going to combine my "bellydancing fembot" song with some loops I picked up from Maxamatrix and make one long robo megamix, kind of like The Fifth Horseman but with robots as the theme. I have the Cinematic Soundscapes packing coming from Digital Redux to help with that.

Enjoy this early, random in some ways, mix. Credits: A Transformers inspired song. "ComputerSynth1A" is a loop from Guest Artist Mellow Jeremy. The rest are loops from Soundtrack Loop's "Tribal Tech Beats" and weird vocal and turntableness from Peace Love Productions best of Vocals and Turntable Scratch pac

MakeTunes is having a contest to celebrate their sponsorship by Loopmasters and is asking for electronica style mixes from the material, no hip hop, etc. Wow I'm at a disadvantage! (Just kidding)

Anyway, I decided to enter but I've been wanting to use one of the funnier vocals from Michael Cosma so I dug in with just one loop for fun.

For a limited time you can download the "megamix" with this and "Knowledge From Da Street."

Look in song lyrics for url to download! Credits: Features one voal loop from Michael Cosma Guest Artist (Tapegerm.com) and the rest were provided by Loopmasters.com to maketunes.com for their / our music enjoyment.

Another experimental song, something I've been meaning to do and it's easiest for me to do with demo only loops. (Since I can't publish it for cash).

This one isn't yet complete, I'm going to add at least another minute onto it and some other beats. I am somewhat limited because I have the trial version of Acid right now. I'll be "fixing" that in a week by buying the real deal. Credits: Features the wind sample from Tapegerm's "Axel Mundi Guest Artist" loop collection. The rest of the loops are mainly from Loopmasters.com with some FX samples from Blastwave FX and vocal samples from the 80s movie "The Princess Bride."

Drunk Ocelot
"Very Nice. I wondered if any of those crazy vocals I did would be useful - that worked out really well for this tune. I really liked the climax of the music near the end and then how it softly tapered off. The album cover art for this is also very cool."

Mic recommendations?

So I'm going to give rapping another try, actually wrote another verse the other night and it sounds great. Recording is another issue. I have a ten dollar radio shack mic that just ain't cutting it. So... considering this is bedroom producer hobby here with vocals (instrumentals have to be professional but my vocals are NOT a priority) what kind of mic should I be looking or does anyone have some good recommends?

Hey all, lots to talk about. First, music. I am up to four remix songs in total. I'm sure you have all heard of Queen Latifah at some point, I've remixed the song that got her career started, "Princess Of The Posse." I've also uploaded 2 new preview songs "By Doing This He Too Shall Become Dubmortal" and "Czar Bars With Cosmo Filaments." http://www.healthyinsanity.com/2009site/music.html I've also put my mixtape project "Twelve" officially on sale. There's a completed track listing and all. Just over an hour and five minutes of music featuring one track from David Fuglewicz and two from Mental Anguish. Still accepting contributors, so what if I have to change graphics up? http://www.healthyinsanity.com/2009site/musicforsale.html#twelve Now what's this noise about a movie? Well I mentioned that some of the songs I was making here in particular Shtompy, Azimuth, Waiting Behind The 8 Ball were part of some secret movie projects. Well they ain't so secret no more! You can head over to our blog http://gravitywellproductions.blogspot.com/ Or website at http://www.gravitywell.com/ And read up about them as well as see some trailer bits with my music in most of them (My stuff with Tapegerm loops in the Haunted Hotel stuff) The credits have been posted separately of the film as they are all WIP.
