About Tapegerm, an experimental audio recording artist community

Tapegerm is an experimental music collaboration community. We exchange sounds for projects initiated by the artists who participate here. We are recording studio rats, noise makers, glitch lovers, drone masters, beat producers, techno logues, sound collectors, etc. Musical or not, we love bending sounds into something new.

The way to get started is to set up a Tapegerm profile account. This is where you will share the recordings you make when participating in projects. You may also set up your own projects, contribute source files, post comments, blog, share photos, youtubes, albums, etc.

Accounts are free. Tapegerm is run as a non-profit cooperative effort. An annual spring fundraising campaign is held to keep the server running. A major portion of Tapegerm's funding is contributed by "Supporting Directors" who donate $90 each year. Supporting Directors are people (mostly active Tapegerm artists) who are committed to keeping the idea behind Tapegerm going. There is a mailing list where Directors share ideas regarding the Tapegerm project and Directors may host their own domains on the Tapegerm server for free. There are currently 11 artists located in various locales guiding Tapegerm's direction. If you wish to become a Director you may contribute $90 after clicking the DONATE button below. Music-oriented companies may sponsor at the corporate level (US$249) and receive account access to our Sponsor Page which features links and the ability to keep Tapegerm visitors updated on items of interest to recording artists.
