WHAT IS THIS?

Free Loop guest artist pages offer a selection of royalty-free loops either directly submitted by guest artists or extracted from CD's available from the artist.

The idea here is for loop-based composers to download the loops and use them to create a new song or unique mix, freely adding any elements they desire.

Once you complete your new mix, upload it HERE and we will post it on this page with information about how people can find more of your music.

In addition, once we've collected an album's worth of material we will assemble it onto a CD which should further promote your efforts.

The loops here are royalty free and resulting mixes can be released by Tapegerm, the Free Loop Guest artist, and the artist making the mix in whatever fashion they choose. It's the sort of viral distribtution method we like.

About the track:(Heres a track from loop pack 005.)I like the concept of open audio, and thought that I would try giving something from tapegerm a whirl. I used a few samples from melodywhore's pack that felt right.
I wanted to go for something with a nice yet somber vibe to it, and I trust that I achieved this. The result is minimal techno.
It took an hour from download of samples to mastering for me to complete the piece. I focused on the arrangment and movement of effects through time. I sequenced this in realtime in Ableton Live, and then made some brief edits afterwards. No additional elements were added; all of the sounds are from melodywhore. I did shorten most of them and looped them to get the sound I wanted. I used the usual suspects for effects: delays, equalizers, filters, choruses, and reverbs were used.

living in the basement?
Took 4 Algorythm loops (Wurlitzer,
ampetamine, blip_sweep_2, and drum_01d)
into AudioMulch.
Used the "Karlette" plugin by Steinberg
(ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/download/pc/plugins/vst_plugins/karlette.zip),
which emulates a tape loop delay with
multiple heads. You have nice control
over the parameters of the delays...
very cool.

About the track:I started this track with something completely different in mind than how it ended up. I started with some pads I created, then I threw in some of algorhythm's samples. They worked well, and I went from there and kept throwing more and more in. So, I'd say that about 70% of the sounds came from algorhythm's supplied samples (most heavily processed by myself), and the rest are my own or random samples i have lying around.The whole track is pretty dark, basically the first 2 minutes ended up being a long intro, then a little bit after the 2' mark, the breaks kick in, and it goes from there. maybe a bit too long, but i think it came out pretty well.

About the track:Drum and Bass - we wanted an ethereal feel, with persistent delays, filter sweeps and atmospheres (in keeping with the theme of Immanence).
We underpinned this with a smooth-rocking set of breaks and subs so the whole track has a feel of persistence and compulsion rather than the usual DnB 'stop start' immediacy.

About the artist:klao DNA is an electronica artist based in San Diego, California.
