DATURA 1.0 is the operating name for the music of Matt Cisler. Matt Cisler has been involved with sound and the making of sound since an early age. Unfortunately, he soon became discouraged with music, due to the boot camp discipline of his instructors, and turned to visual art. He rediscovered his love for making noise in the early 80's due to the liberating force of punk rock and went on to play in several punk/industrial/noise bands,( the Maggots, Duck Kicking Vulture, Cancer Bunny) and put out several cassettes and played numerous local live shows in his home town. After a long hiatus, he returned to music several years ago to investigate the visual and sound production capabilities of the computer. His current musical likes, which may or may not not be influences, include everything from Avant garde classical to Noise to Jazz to Heavy metal. You can hear samples of his current work at www.iuma.com/DATURA1zero

Mungojelly's first instrument was the violin. He then went on to learn to play the piano, guitar, recorder, tenor sax, clarinet, harmonica, and anything and everything else he could get his hands on, and by now has waded deep into the murky swamp of electronic sound. Through all of it, however, his favorite instrument and the center of his being has been his voice... sometimes when he sings, he can really feel his whole self vibrating in harmony/oneness with the universal vibration. Mungojelly lives in Medford, MA.

David Obney - Tommy Tremolo and the New Galaxy Gliders is the brainchild of me, founder and sole member (David Obney) of Ohio, USA. This solo project is the result of years of garage bands and basement bands. I started in a band called "Still Life", which was a horrible heavy metal wanna- be band. I then stopped music after 3 years with them and completed my undergraduate degree. Afterward, I felt the calling of music again as two friends of mine began playing together. Since we were all also roommates, we started jamming out horrible versions of bad songs like "Jane Says", "Knockin on Heaven's Door", and "Rooster". Ironically, we recorded everything as we grew. These recordings helped us grow and provided hours of entertainment. They are currently locked away in Gary's (our guitarist) room in California. That trio was known as "Teacher's Pet", since two of us are teachers. Teacher's Pet grew to add guitarist/drummer/singer, Josh, percussionist Greg and keys player Bill. The result was a band called "Out my Tree" which played two live shows and recorded a bit, but never worked very seriously, as the band seemed more of a social outlet for a group of friends. The band dissembled with Gary's leaving for California and Bill moving out of town. When I, theformer singer of three bands, bought a computer, it was an awakening. I began churning out tunes by the dozens, but not before I hacked out a miserably experimental album entitled "Cosmic Noise". I used an 8 track analog to record it over a period of two sober weeks. Within the next two years, I completed two CDs of computer – synth – sample driven work. The sound quality improved, but my experimentation increased to new levels. Overall, I am pleased with my growth as an electronic music artist, but I know I have a long way to go to realize my musical vision. Tommy Tremolo and the New Galaxy Gliders also uses some music from a friend, Josh, who I will also be forming a band with again. I love music with no rules. I believe any sound, with rhythm, is music. I believe music can and should create space through the production, as well as within the music itself. I like it to be unpredictable and enjoy the marriage of seemingly oxymoronic styles and sounds. I think computer based music should do what more organic forms cannot. To me, music is liquid, flexible, and ever-changing. I am very excited to be part of this collective. I like to think of Tommy Tremolo and the New Galaxy Glidersas a man, floating, (a bit lonely) but always contemplatively, through cold, empty space, beaming messages back to Earth in the form of songs. My influences are: John Coltrane, Louis Armstrong, Radiohead, Beck, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Shakti, Mr. Bungle, Gary Jungeberg, Josh Bennett (dross), Brian Kamerer, Nutty Grizzo, and a host of others!

CRUT is John Book, an artist/producer living in Tri-Cities, Washington. As Crut (his main project), Book has been recording since 1992, after many years of recording himself out of personal curiosity. He has also done work under the names Wilbur, Urethra Franklin, and The Jergens McFlurry Quartet. Book enjoys the cut & paste-style of producing, often preferring to use vinyl-only sources, but anything that makes a sound is worthy of going into the mix.

Sphere is an ambient music lover who scours the internet for odd vocals and solid beats. All of his music tells a story if you know how to "hear the words" when there is none. Kahman lives in New Orleans where I grew up. I've always listened to electronica music and have always wanted to make my own but I never pursued it. My brother finally got me some programs to start messing around with and I've been hooked ever since. I like everything from breakbeat, house, drum n' bass to trance, hardcore (some), and experimental.... pretty much whatever sounds good so the music I make will have many different sounds.

darph/nadeR is an experimental/electronic/non-electronic/noise duo hailing from the sickly-yuppified small town of santa rosa, california. d/n began in 1999, though the two members (jared butler and cory thrall) had been playing together for a few years in a few different noise projects. d/n has experimented with many different sounds and atmospheres, and really tries hard to make every recording and performance different and important. Pete Martin is the composer and spiritual gravity behind Eddie the Rat (www.eddietherat.com), a musical-concept based on cycles and perceptual reactions to them. Starting as one-man electronic compositions, Eddie the Rat now also employs a (revolving) door cast of (up to) 15 musicians and voice-manipulators in live performance. Shows incorporate cyclical-patterns (many times conducted as an on-the fly cut 'n paste session) played against each other in musical arrangements. These updating compositions stay in alive and in flux, or die naturally through an inabilty to adapt within the environment. Either way, listening is participating and projecting off of the resulting "audio inkblot." "It's All Part of the Ongoing Construct."

Stanley E. Davis, a.k.a. "seed,". And yes, the comma is part of the name. originally started out as a guitarist/singer/songwriter in the early 90’s, who then discovered other ways of making sound by way of sampling, keyboards, tape machines, etc. I still am a singer-songwriter, so I guess you could say I’m having something of an "affair" with the type of music I do under the "seed," moniker. Lately, I lean more towards ambient, soundscape, more relaxing pieces. I honestly do this because it’s something I want to hear, and I figure if anyone else likes what they hear, I’m more than happy to share it with them. If anyone would like to check out my stuff, you can always go to: Acidplanet there are a few songs from which to choose. So, randomly pick a song, and lose yourself for awhile.... Peace..seed,

Profound meaning can be found in these sounds. Don't underestimate the impact that your senses have on your daily lives. If you can bombard at least one of your senses with the discordant notes of pure dissonance, your life will not be the same as before. Avoid the mind-numbing influence of pop and the neo-brainwashing stream of disinformation known as "mainstream" media and culture and avail yourself of a slice of truth amid so much shit. Remember, you cant spell belief without lie.

Daryl Westfall dabbles in sound from his home near Nashville, Tennessee. A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Daryl has been a hometaper for as long as he can remember. He establishes new solo projects and concepts on a near-daily basis, and terminates them just as quickly. His first (and best known) online musical project to date is Beef Humper, a collage project that enjoyed a three-year stint on mp3.com. Other recent projects include a 'one-off' disco cover band called Bob's Other Pants, and his 'alcoholic, drug-addled' redneck-from-hell alter ego, The Mighty ASS. When not making noise, Daryl inflicts poetry damage on the unsuspecting and immerses himself in cutout bins.

DeVico became absorbed by the early 20th century movements of DaDaism and Futurism in the late 80's. His works are an ongoing process, pulling in an incestuous amount of data, mix-matching and a spewing forth with either a precision architect or an automated response from his surroundings. He has created with audio on and off over the last 13 years, using borrowed equipment, magnets, cassette players, and found objects in the early 90's to field recordings and software as of the last 2 years. Presently he is looking into utilizing web media software to create random generated audio sculptures while producing his own digital visual works. American bassist, programmer, conceptualist, bandleader and record producer Jair-Rohm Parker Wells has been a catalyst on the international avant garde scene for more than twenty years. From his early work with ground breaking aggregations such as Germany's Embryo, his own New Jersey based Venus Envy and the New York iconoclasts Machine Gun he has consistently pushed the envelope of "the musics of expression." A resident of Stockholm, Sweden since 1985, he is widely recognized as a highly individual voice on the electric bass guitar, Ashbory bass, Fichter electric double bass and acoustic bass guitar, he has also distinguished himself as a programmer and synthesist developing with Max/MSP and Csound. Most recently Jair-Rohm has added record production to his skill set and has been releasing his work on his own Glass Thought Communications imprint. To date GTC has produced and released a collection of Swedish spoken word/sound collage pieces as well as a set of improvisations featuring the cream of Sweden's improvised music scene.

toda V's music can be described as experimental electronic classical, otherworldly ambient, and brainy acid jazz. He has lots of free time to make and tweak new sounds. tV was outta the loop on making music for about a year, and now is back into the swing of things. He generates his own sounds and/or seriously inverts the possibilities of other`s sounds (to the point of turning sine tones into arpeggiating guitar sequences).

HIs full-realisation of loop-based music was when he was given a copy of Acid Pro 1.0 in the late 90s... today, using a variety of tools to create, edit, and destroy noise, James is currently looping under the pseudonym melodywhore.

I like to dabble with music under the name Dub Jay when I can wrestle enough of my free time away from the vast time-consuming conspiracy that is school. Musically, I have yet to settle on a single genre, prefering to run the gamut from tranquil ambient to IDM/noise experiments.I contributed an ambient track to the Ambient.01@Hyperreal compilation (www.aquafm.com). Her goal is to marry the musical with the non-musical, random with the orderly, with occasional experiments into a purely mathematical compositional process. She eagerly awaits the grand unifying theory which she is convinced will be a subset of the Mandelbrot set.

ADAMISGOD is the alter ego of Adam Dollard. Who, as it turns out, is in fact God. ADAMISGOD as an entity has only been functioning fully now for around 6/7 months. He has had two releases on CHMAFU NOCORDS with a third due out this fall. Adam is also responsible for DOGSIMADA (ADAMISGOD's ambient counterpart) which is based solely around creating dark/harsh soundscapes. Adam (the guy) has been been around for nearly 3 years now with numerous releases under various names (Dead Babies On Crack, Lifekilter) that have now all been swallowed up by time and the fact that all the labels have closed up shop. Adam joined The Tapegerm Collective around March 1, 2003. He is rather glad that he did too because it is lonely at the top.
