Buzzsaw & The Shavings Having spent the better, or at least indifferent portions of the last 15 years or so on the periphery of various too-well defended musical scenes alerted to my presence in a creative Scythia releasing cassette, vinyl and CD indie morsels perfectly spiced to tempt the appetite of Folly, I drew too near to Tapegerm and I was captured in a wend of loop, and in the ensuing struggles to free myself, a fresh provision of Folly decided to call the result a mix. More mixes are forth through ninecoming, but I hesitate to say more as double-digits provoke a bad elevation sickness. Hal McGee I have been making homemade recordings of my own experimental, electronic, industrial and noise music since September 1981. In the 1980s I recorded with Debbie Jaffe, under the name Viscera, and solo under the name Dog As Master. From 1984-87 Jaffe and I operated the Cause And Effect International Distribution Service. We distributed more than 5,000 tapes of homemade experimental music. From 1989 to 1991 I published six issues of the homemade experimental music magazine Electronic Cottage. In 1998 I produced the Tape Heads compilation series of recordings by more than 200 audio artists. Don Campau Born in 1952, Campau began recording in 1969 with the legendary Bay Area avant garde group, The Roots Of Madness. The Roots recorded an LP in 1971 and many open reel tapes as albums now being re-issued on CDR. In 1976, he started 4 track recording with his friend, Greg Gray and later went on to form The Desmonds, a punk band, with Greg and Joe Menichetti In 1981, he got his own 4 track and has been cranking out the home recordings ever since. Shell Shell is a solo performing singer/songwriter/guitarist. Her songs are moody and intense taking you on a lyrical roller coaster. Her voice is strong yet soothing and her performances dynamic and mesmerizing. The daughter of a classical singer and vocal music teacher, Shell's vocal talent is inherent. Singing as an alto in her church choir fostered her love of music. She began taking violin lessons at age eight and continued through age fifteen. During that time she also studied the clarinet and bass clarinet, which she played in her junior high school band. By age sixteen she had taught herself to play guitar and by nineteen began writing music and lyrics. Performances at venues such as Alvins and the Detroit Public Library lead to Shell's eventual association with several performance groups. SoLaRiS I am a solo artist who has been creating various styles of music for a number of years . A long time member of the AP community ( although i rarely post songs there these days mostly due to the unfair reviewing/chart over song quality system! ). Emphasis is nearly always on spacey sounds ranging from Ambient to Progressive Rock and beyond, which at times incorporates some of my soaring, mostly improvised, lead guitar work which can be melodic or experimental. Besides using loops i also like to combine my own work with the aid of numerous VSTi's ....for the more personal touch. Virus Factory As a musician, Jonas Stoltz aka Virus Factory, has been recording, producing, remixing and touring since the mid-80s spanning a wide range of music styles - from involvement in the early days of industrial to producing Chicago club and house tracks to performing in bizarre experimental theater and soundscaping projects. Many have said his collection of musical equipment is eclectic, consisting of racks of vintage and customized synthesizers, drum kits comprised of metal slabs, a collection of hybrid brass instruments and plenty of non-traditional tools used to create sonic mayhem. And scary as it may seem, he also owns a collection of over 6,000 80's 12-inch singles that he'll own until they pry them out of his cold, dead hands. D. Howse Started to mess around with loops and sequencers at the dangerous age of 14 in 2002. In those days he thought that producing simple tracks would just inspire him in making new moves in the art of "popping" in which he inherited the name "Mista StiFFie"... But producing opened a new door. He took the name "Howse of Rave" (since he only made rave-type music at the time) and was introduced to the Tapegerm Collective in early 2003. He didn't join the TGC until early 2004 where he got himself involved in a collbaoration project with Donhead/ElectroEarwig called "Virtual Religion". Now, just goes by "D. Mystery Hearsay Mystery Hearsay is the name for the solo musical projects of Mike Honeycutt. I started networking in the early eighties. I got a copy of C.L.E.M. and wrote to some of the contacts included in this vital pub (edited by Alex Douglas). Later I started mystery hearsay cassettes in 1983- and released a C60 of my solo recordings. The first step release provided me something to trade with. I networked more and more with other indie people and labels worldwide. This exchange led to starting my own cassette label of the same name. 208 and a half My name is David Pletts and I live in East Anglia, UK. I am 67 and have worked in various jobs including printing, teaching and working on the British railway system. Almost all my life I have had an interest in music, and for many years on and off have been a church organist. About 25 years ago I became interested in electronics, particularly in sound producing equipment. I bought a small synthesisier and did some multi-track recording. Next an interest in computing meant that I was using computers (Ataris and Amigas) for composing, using trackers. Now I still use some pretty basic, inexpensive, software for music making, mainly employing Magix Music Maker, Cubasis VST 5, and AudioMulch with many VST instruments and effects to create sounds and sequence them in addition to using 'found' loops and samples from various sources. climax Generator Mike Fuller A Native of the great state of ohio, the one man member of Climax Generator can be likened to the foot soldiers of the Apocalypse. Climax Generator lull the listener in with well written noise melodies and progressive Drone arrangements, then show the darkside with their pummeling industrial force, and intense manipulated vocals that range from nightmare hymns to sound like they emanate from another dimension. There is no accurate way to describe the musical force that Climax Generator executes with a reckless abandon. Power and distorted noise are definitely a staple part of the Climax Generators sound, but the aggressive level at which they are played often brings old school Industrial noise to mind.	6218
melodywhore melodywhore began as melody's a whore back at the beginning of 2000. it started as an extension of the synthdog project and eventually became its own entity. the synthdog project was entirely experimentation starting with Acid Pro v1.0. Taking existing loops and editing them as well as creating his own loops, james discovered a different way of expressing himself in music. having just sold all of his equipment to fund a cross-country move, this enabled him to continue with music but was quite a change from sequencing. never-the-less, the results proved to be rewarding. the first melodywhore song was called a brief moment which was followed by grace and many others. using stand-alone synth apps on the computer, james was creating melody loops and taking them into sound forge to edit them in different ways, sometimes destructive. each new song helped in the learning process in adapting to using a PC for musical creation. after joining Acidplanet and mp3.com in early 2000, james met a ...	6095

Michael A Cosma Former Lead Guitar player with Rogue Elephant finds new home on Tapegerm! After R.elephant disbanded I made tapes as Orpheus , now I jam with Justin Frederick in Aspect and make my own solo tracks. I also appear on several Hal McGee projects and FDR. I have recorded with Red Soda and Jason Butler, and finally Mark Cuzick in Neuroplaster MAWG. Much of this material can be downloaded for free at my Mudball website. I rock like a mad viper sneering at you with sarcastic banter. My music is constructed five to six levels outside of our current dimension using a spiralhelix wormhole ladder. Thelonious Octopus My name is Jeff Stoneking. I've been recording home made music since 1990, starting with just a Casio keyboard and a tape recorder. My first modest efforts were spotty, at best. I even gave up recording for a while because I could not get the sounds out that I wanted. x-tokyo-river-god Niveous is usually an acoustic artist but every once in a while, he likes to dabble in the world electronic. With TTS vocals, strangled samples and gothic lyrics, Niveous transforms into x-tokyo-river-god. As time went on, the experiment grew and Niveous' long time collaborator Johnny Cashpoint joined the group. Then the very avant-garde Noah McLaughlin came on board and the group began to evolve and create lush and layered experimental songs. Her goal is to marry the musical with the non-musical, random with the orderly, with occasional experiments into a purely mathematical compositional process. His mission is to take a collection of previously unrelated sounds and transform them into a cohesive unit through the use of sampling, looping, and other forms of audio manipulation. Although the rhythmic roots of most of his work are based on downtempo breakbeats, klao DNA constantly seeks to question genre boundaries and categorization. klao DNA is the founding member of The Infinite Sector, a collective/network of experimental artists and musicians from around the globe.	282
Sin:Ned Sin:Ned, an imagineered persona, an accidental psycho-creation of some sorts from its counter-part known as Dennis Wong, has been a psuedo-music journalist in Hong Kong for over ten years. For the past few years, a freelance writer putting out articles in such alternative music magazines as MCB in Hong Kong, and also a software junkies and psuedo-musician working on various types of computer-based sonic imagineering. Major interested areas include non-standard, non-professional, idiosyncratic ways of sounds creation, samples collection, signal processing, and algorithmic music construction. Sin:Ned plays no real instrument beside his Sony VAIO laptop.	273
